About Horse & Soul

Meet The Founder

Deanna Rupp, LSCSW Therapist | Facilitator

Deanna's  work is grounded in compassion, collaboration, and a  deep respect for  each individual’s unique story. Deanna provides  therapy for individuals and families through in-office and  equine-assisted psychotherapy — a  unique, experiential approach to  mental health care that aligns deeply  with her values and clinical  philosophy. Her approach is flexible and  collaborative, focused on  creating a safe, trusting space where growth  and healing can occur.  Deanna is passionate about helping clients  recognize their strength and  resilience while building meaningful,  lasting change. Outside of her  professional work, Deanna enjoys spending  time with her husband and  son, caring for their farm animals, and  finding balance through  reading, travel, and time outdoors — all of  which influence the  grounded, relational nature of Horse & Soul.

Our Purpose

Horse & Soul was created to offer a different kind of space — one rooted in connection, presence, and growth. Through ground-based, horse-assisted experiences, Horse & Soul invites individuals, families, and groups to slow down, reflect, and learn through meaningful interaction rather than words alone.

This work is not about riding horses or mastering techniques. It’s about awareness, relationship, and the powerful insights that emerge when humans and horses connect in an intentional, guided environment.

Our Approach

At Horse & Soul, experiences are:

  • Ground-based and experiential
  • Client-centered and trauma-informed
  • Guided at your pace, not rushed or forced

Horses are highly perceptive animals who respond authentically to the world around them. Their presence offers natural, nonjudgmental feedback that can help individuals notice patterns, build emotional awareness, and explore new ways of relating — both to themselves and to others. Every experience is designed to be safe, supportive, and adaptable, meeting participants exactly where they are.

The Role of the Horses

At Horse & Soul, the horses are not tools — they are partners in the process. Each horse is carefully cared for and respected as an individual, with their well-being placed at the center of every experience.

Horses offer honest, present-moment feedback through their behavior and responses. This allows participants to explore emotions, boundaries, communication, and connection in a way that feels natural and deeply impactful.

A Space for Growth, Not Perfection

Horse & Soul welcomes individuals, families, and groups seeking growth through experience rather than instruction alone. You don’t need prior horse experience, and you don’t need to know exactly what you’re looking for to begin.

Curiosity, openness, and willingness are enough.

Personalized Therapy Options Available

At Horse & Soul, therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all.

You may meet in-office, connect through telehealth, or incorporate equine-assisted therapy into your treatment plan. Together, we’ll determine the approach that best supports your healing journey.

Equine-assisted therapy is part of clinical care and is included in insurance billing when appropriate.
